What you put into your body is sooooo important. That’s why I will be beginning an elimination diet. I’m starting over because I haven’t been feeling well every time I wake up or just any time of the day for that matter! I’m going back to my paleo basics of meat, fruits and vegetables.
I will slowly begin to reintroduce my body to the things I love (That are still healthy) that may be causing me to have issues! People can have so many sensitivities to different foods and I don’t want to be the one who constantly suffers without answers so elimination diet it is!
I wasn’t even aware eggs could cause sensitivity so it’s good to do your research so you can hopefully find the root causes of your food-related symptoms!
So this weekends Mantra is When diet is wrong medicine is of no use, when diet is correct medicine is of no need.
As y’all know I’ve been struggling with some fatigue for awhile. It comes and goes and I believed it to be a Vitamin C deficiency but have still been super sluggish lately without knowing the reason why, STILL.
When I would wake up in the morning the first thing I would go for is a cup of coffee which in the end left me feeling sick to my stomach and almost just as tired if not more afterward! So I’ve decided to give it up and switch to tea to see if that’ll help at all. And so far, it’s been amazing!
I started drinking Cusa Tea as it’s an instant tea that comes in to-go packets which are so very convenient for a Mom who is always on the go like myself! Not only did I notice my energy levels go up in the mornings but I don’t feel as sluggish afterward and don’t feel dehydrated!
Cusa Tea is a Colorado company based out of Boulder (I love supporting local businesses!) and uses only premium, high-quality teas and fruits without any sugars or artificial gunk you see in other to-go packets in the stores! So I feel great having my toddler have sips! (Cuz you know.. Their stuff is not nearly as delicious as what Mommy is having 😛 )
They have a lovely variety of teas from black, green and oolong tea with varying flavors as well! (So far my favorite is the Mango Green tea! ❥)
I went to a health event recently that said that common coffees could contain Mycotoxins (mold toxins) that could be detrimental to your body especiallyif you’re sensitive to these toxins, but why would you want toxins in your body anyways?!
So I’m sure I’ll have a cup of joe every now and then but after feeling the way I have sticking with Cusa Tea and Stevia (I use Wholesome’s Stevia packets because of the convenience and it’s just straight Stevia leaf extract, no added stuff!) I’m going to keep staying on track with these in the mornings and whenever I need a midday pickup!
Try for yourself and see if switching from coffee to tea helps you with whatever fatigue, foggy-headedness, or grogginess you’re experiencing! You never know what you could use as an alternative to make you feel like new ☀

Well, I’ve been getting regular massages (Every 2 weeks) from Bodhi Body and am continuing to see wonderful progress in my overall well being. Being a parent in general is exhausting so it does feel wonderful to get the pampering – But it goes so much farther than that.
When I went recently by myself, I had Zach who is an amazing massage therapist and was able to feel I had a little weakness in my left arm (I’m having a rough go with my nerve damage) but he was able to work it enough that I haven’t had ANY problems whatsoever! Nerve damage really wrecks havoc on my life as a Mommy and writer so it’s nice to know that I can get legitimate healing from massage and that I can see significant progress in how often I have the damage coming back.
My Husband has also been having some shoulder pain from work so I surprised him with a romantic couples massage with their therapists Tonya and Garrett. They were both wonderful and my Husband left feeling completely at ease and pain free!
They also started giving their customers gift bags that contain a gorgeous smelling candle that can be used as massage oil (And they’ll refill it once it’s all gone! How cool is that?!)
I don’t think it’s a mystery on how much I love this place. It’s helping me in so many different ways and I couldn’t imagine going without my bi-weekly massages now!

Anyone else LOVE Nice Cream?! A guilt-free and delicious alternative to Ice Cream – I love it and it’s PALEO. When I was driving back from the store last month I was behind the Ba-Nom-a-Nom truck and was INSTANTLY intrigued when the back said NICE CREAM.
That’s not something you expect to see very often with all of the unhealthy food still going around BUT in our gorgeous state of Colorado we’re doing a really wonderful job of finding healthier alternatives for ourselves and our children!
I went to their website and found their schedule. You can catch them in Denver at the Civic Center Park most Thursdays and Pearl Street Farmer’s Market in Denver nearly every Sunday! If you’re outside of the metro area you can find them up in Fort Collins on Tuesdays and Longmont on Mondays! They’re then in random locations all throughout the week! Their wide spread stops makes it really convenient for anyone to catch them!
So we picked a time and place that worked for my family and brought them to try some! I got an amazing Peach Mango flavored nice cream with vegan organic chocolate sauce and almond granola – It was DIVINE. I’m salivating just thinking about it..
And my Dad was in town from Texas (He’s an old cowboy kinda guy, I love him ❥) and wasn’t sure what he would think but after he saw the options he decided to get a strawberry and banana flavored nice cream with vegan organic chocolate sauce and he LOVED it. Said he couldn’t tell a difference!! (That was my win for the day 😉 )
The owner is an amazing woman named Sarah who wanted to bring a healthy alternative to the people of Denver and it’s making a huge difference. Kids get excited about all of the different flavors and toppings and you as a parent can feel great about the food you’re allowing them to eat because it’s beneficial for them but also GOOD which is a WONDERFUL lesson to teach your kids – Healthy. Can. Be. YUMMY!
Switching to the Paleolithic lifestyle can cause you to experience a variety of cravings for different foods that you may have been comforted with in the past. Mine was definitely pasta. Every time I went out to eat I’d usually grab some Chicken Alfredo or Shrimp Scampi, so it was hard for me to part with it.
We went a very long time without eating any sort of noodles. Usually just buying expensive freezer noodles made from almonds that only had enough to fill up one person **And we only got it for special occasions**!
Not anymore!! My Husband has officially mastered sweet potato noodles. YES, IT’S A THING. Sweet. Potato. NOODLES. For awhile it would be a 30 minute ordeal trying to spiralize just two sweet potatoes with a hand spiralizer and it was getting really frustrating for him to use.
But for Father’s Day my Husband received the Brieftons 5-Blade Spiralizer and it’s completely changed our meals! It takes 5 minutes to make THREE sweet potatoes worth of noodles and can feed us each with seconds to spare!
Once spiralized you heat a pan, add olive oil and toss for 5-7 minutes or until desired texture! Then that’s IT! Add whatever protein and/or sauces you desire and you’ve got yourself an amazing and filling meal!
You can also spiralize carrots, zucchini, or whatever else you can think of! It’s an INCREDIBLY versatile dish!
Hey y’all. Sorry I’ve been so quiet lately! Been busy with getting ready for our trip to Louisiana! Hudson and I fly out Friday and I’ve been scrambling to get everything ready!
This last weekend I ate a little gluten because of a party I went to and Mother’s Day! I definitely paid for it, I’m JUST feeling better.. It’s so important, even if you’re stressed, to take care of yourself. It’s keeps your energy levels high and improves your overall mood!! I don’t feel yucky now because I’ve been eating whole foods, drinking tons of water and exercising! It makes a huge difference.. Not only do I feel confident because I like how I look but I also feel GREAT. So eat your whole foods, folks! Drink tons of water and GET UP! Be active! Even if it’s chores around the house or just a little walk! ❤
My Husband and I had only driven through Pueblo, CO to get to Texas and maybe for a pee stop.. But never had I actually ventured into this city. I am so regretting I hadn’t yet. This little town is AMAZING.
My Husband, Hudson and I decided to stay the night over in Pueblo because I had an eco-friendly Earth Day segment on KOAA News 5 EARLY in the morning the next day! Our drive down was LONG but we made it – And JUST in time to have some amazing Bingo Burger! This place is SO good. It’s like Five Guys, but better.. YES, I said it! They had SO many amazing and healthy options!
We were able to enjoy some of their signature burgers WITH the option of making it a lettuce bun to keep it paleo and we had some of their DELICIOUS sweet potato fries with their unique lemon-rosemary aioli and thai chili ketchup dipping sauces! SO good and SO much food! (We JUST finished their sweet potato fries we had brought home!) The manager Steena was so very sweet and welcoming. We’ll definitely be by again next time we’re down that way!
After our much needed and delicious dinner we headed to our hotel. (Best Western Plus – Was so incredibly displeased with their service unfortunately. We will not be staying with them again in the future) Despite the frustrations with the hotel, our next day was SO much fun. I was super nervous about being on live TV for the first time but the staff at the station was SO friendly, understanding and helpful!
I breezed through each eco-friendly item thanks to their support and then I felt sad after it was all over – I wanted to keep going! You can watch my segments here!
Although I wanted to keep going, I had a full day of fun planned with my guys – I LOVE Riverwalks (If you’ve seen my San Antonio post you’ll know I can never go back now that I’ve experienced them, I have to see them ALL!) so I wanted to visit the Arkansas River Pueblo Riverwalk. It was breathtaking! There were historic buildings surrounding an amazingly, beautifully planned walkway with mini waterfalls, artistic touches and sculptures everywhere. I felt as if I was in an art district – Something that was so unexpected but I cherished and loved every moment of it!
We built up quite an appetite walking around in the warm weather so we headed to a highly recommended local restaurant called DC’s On B Street. I had seen their reviews and food photos online and was INSTANTLY intrigued. We walked in and were pleasantly greeted by gorgeous vintage feels and the sweetest woman, Sara. We were also greeted by the fun and talented owner DC!
Their restaurant was beautiful but their food was EVEN better. They had GORGEOUS presentation with AMAZING flavor. DC is a MASTER cook and Sara has the best recommendations! Brent decided to get some fresh Halibut (From Alaska!) and I got an amazing strawberry and walnut salad. The Halibut was cooked to buttery perfection and the salad was DIVINE.
After dinner, Sara told us their pies are homemade by her talented sister! We could NOT say No!! So we got a pecan pie with a side of ice cream.. Just couldn’t resist and I am glad we didn’t it was PERFECT. And we know our Pecan Pies – Two southern folks 😉
We decided we’ll be back here EVERY TIME we’re in town – Not just because of their amazing food but because of how amazing Sara and DC are.
This ended our Pueblo trip and it was bittersweet. There’s no place like home, but we really enjoyed being here, even if just for a day! Like my title suggests, it’s a hidden gem that we’ll be HAPPY to come back to 🙂

Whether you work, are a stay at home mom, are a student or work full-time it is always a good idea to have healthy snacks around for the in-between meal cravings. Something as easy as a banana, apple or anything you can throw into a bag and carry around with you.
When I am having a salt craving my favorite snack is a handful of unsalted, raw almonds! They are incredibly healthy and delicious! (Out of all of the tree nuts they have the highest amount of protein) And a handful of grapes is what satisfies my sweet craving! (Especially frozen!!)
It is actually better for your body to eat multiple times throughout the day – But that doesn’t mean you need to eat huge meals 5 times a day! Start with 3 healthy meals and two healthy snacks in-between and your body will thank you!
Hello my lovely followers! I got a notification that it’s my 1 year anniversary of starting my blog.. SO exciting!! Didn’t think this blog would go very far but it’s been an amazing experience, I’ve met many amazing people, done amazing things and learned even more about health on my journey to help OTHERS.
So I wanted to do a throwback of my FIRST post ever, because I think it’s a good one and many people didn’t get to see it since it was a whole year ago 😉 So here it goes – Thank you to everyone whose made this blog so rewarding and fun!
Unfortunately, a lot of people fall for those commercials that claim their foods are made with “natural flavors” or have the most natural ingredients. But in reality they make them the first few ingredients and then add a ton of crap as “preservatives” at the end that makes it unhealthy. Healthy food is WHOLE foods – Real meat, fruits, vegetables. Foods that aren’t processed or come from a freezer.
All my life I had heard “Eating healthy is too expensive” and saw people eat unhealthy thinking that it was true, because.. It had to be right? Or else people wouldn’t be doing it.. And when you go to a fast food place the salad is usually more expensive than the fattening food. So you would assume that it is usually correct that healthy food is pricey.
But when you go into the store you notice that when you cut out all of the frozen food, chips, soda, bread, etc. that your bill really isn’t very high! For instance, my husband went to the grocery store today and found a TON of chicken on sale and came home with around 8 bags of fruits, vegetables and meats and it was only $48! We saved $30 with our King Soopers card. And now we’ll have meats to freeze to keep them from going bad and have food for quite a while!
Don’t believe the hype that you cannot eat healthy due to the price or that some foods are “healthy” because the commercial claims them to have natural ingredients in them. You catch on really quickly that if you want something that may not be a WHOLE food to look at the ingredients. We use coconut sugar, it is made solely from the coconut flower and is a non-refined sugar that the body can process easier. If you look at the ingredients it tells you just that, there aren’t long names that you cannot pronounce.
Foods make a lot of claims, you just need to know the trick to decided which is a gimmick and which is truly good for your body!
